CPM Resource Center Selected as Clinical Content Provider for Patient Care Planning at Froedtert & Community Health

"The choice of CPMRC as the clinical content provider for clinicaldocumentation and care plans within our electronic health record had theemphatic endorsement of a wide base of multiple disciplines across thesystem," said Kathy Bechtel, Vice President for Patient Care Services andChief Nursing Officer at Froedtert Hospital.

"CPMRC is a content source as well as a transformation process thatenhances the hospital system's plan of care process, use of evidence-basedbest practices and interdisciplinary teamwork and collaboration," said MaryMartin, Director of Patient Care Services at St. Joseph's Hospital.

Froedtert & Community Health last year began implementation of theinpatient Epic EHR. As part of phase two planning for the inpatient clinicaldocumentation in 2009, a task force of interdisciplinary professionals fromFroedtert, Community Memorial and St. Joseph's launched a collaborativedecision making process to choose the clinical content source for itsinpatient care plans. The hospital system's Epic Executive ManagementCommittee approved the CPRMC recommendation in December 2009.

"By partnering with CPMRC to implement standardized evidence basedclinical content for care plans and documentation of professional services,these hospitals will advance evidence-based interdisciplinary care andcollaboration, address requirements of meaningful use and enhance the patientexperience," said Michelle Troseth, MSN, RN, DPNAP, CPMRC's Executive VicePresident and Chief Professional Practice Officer. "Through delivery ofaccurate, timely clinical decision support to interdisciplinary knowledgeworkers and teams, Froedtert & Community Health is poised to create some ofthe best environments in the nation to give and receive care."

Froedtert & Community Health professionals were also eager to participatein CPMRC's 25-year-old International Healthcare Consortium, where close to300 hospital members implement an innovative interdisciplinary practiceframework across multiple care settings through interdisciplinary teams. TheCPMRC consortium recently received the 2010 National Academies of PracticeInterdisciplinary Group Recognition Award.
