"We consider it a privilege to work together to celebrate nursing and elevate the role of the professional nurse in society," said Eileen Williamson, MSN, RN, who serves as senior vice president and chief nurse executive for Nurse.com. "Nurses are our focus every day, but especially from May 6-12 each year."

Nurse.com's National Nurses Week offerings include the following:

  • CE courses: "Resumes: The Recruiter's Perspective" examines how nurses can prepare effective resumes and cover letters or update existing ones and is offered free to nurses courtesy of Capella University. "A Helping Handheld Computer: Technology at the Point of Care" will inform nurses about developing technologies and the expansion of mobile technology in healthcare. It is offered free to nurses courtesy of the University of Phoenix.
  • Webinar: "Missed Nursing Care: Finding the Solutions," is planned for May 12 and features speaker Jennifer Mensik, PhD, MBA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, executive director, nursing, medicine and pharmacy programs for OnCourse Learning. The one-hour event, scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT, will focus on recent research about missed care and solutions to address the issue. The webinar will be recorded and available on demand after May 12.
  • Exclusive online content: Continuing its 2016 series highlighting nurse creators and inventors, Nurse.com will feature a story by Rebecca Bogan, BSN, RN-BC, a nurse on the cancer and blood disorders unit at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. Bogan was inspired by a popular song to create a video of patients and fellow nurses. The video, which includes singer Rachel Platten's "Fight Song," launched in May 2015 and has more than 300,000 views on YouTube.

"Creating the video was one of the most inspiring things I've ever done," Bogan said. "Our time filming was refreshing, entertaining and hilarious. The process spread laughs and lifted spirits throughout a space that can often be filled with tears and pain."

Susan M. Sommers, MBA, BA, RN, HACP, CPHQ, a performance improvement specialist at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, Calif., is the featured author in Nurse.com's End of Shift column. Her story, "A wise nurse once said…," explains the most valuable lessons she has learned over a 43-year nursing career.

Featured Nurse.com bloggers include career advice writer Keith Carlson, BSN, RN, NC-BC; legal information columnist Nancy Brent, MS, JD, RN; education writer Janice Petrella Lynch, MSN, RN; and nursing student Kristen Ponticelli.
