WASHINGTON, Jan. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved the January 2018 Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP) Standards of Excellence for Home Health Providers that incorporate the new Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoPs) requirements Nov 21, 2017.
These standards are now available to:
"The 2018 Standards of Excellence for Home Health Providers demonstrate CHAP's leadership and knowledge of the home health care landscape," said Maureen Spivack, Chair of the CHAP Board of Directors. "As the accreditor of the largest number of Medicare-certified home health organizations, CHAP gives its Medicare certified partners a framework to support their transition to the new CoPs."
All initial and renewing Medicare certified home health providers with site visits on or after January 13, 2018 are evaluated against these standards. The standards also apply to Medicaid providers seeking initial or renewed accreditation in states that require compliance with the CMS home health CoPs.
CHAP President and CEO Barbara McCann, stated, "This can be a great opportunity for home health providers. The changes to the CMS CoPs and our standards mirror the changing home health landscape, and guide accredited agencies to be sustainable organizations offering quality care in homes and in the communities."
