The expo included world-renowned brands like Chicco, Mee Mee, Mother Touch, Sunehri Exports, Cozy N Safe, Florite Baby, Hip Lik, BabyCenterIndia, Pooja Creation, Adore Baby, Kaboos, Sebamed, Tiny Bee, Rikang and GAIA Skin Naturals amongst others. Enthusiastic participation from nine countries including China, Australia, Vietnam, Thailand, US, UK, Canada, Singapore and Italy, for the first time, are providing Indian manufacturers with insights into the latest trends and technology, according to industry observers.
An exhaustive spectrum of quality, technologically-advanced and aesthetically pleasing baby care products, toys, baby food, kids wear, maternity products, organic clothing, nutraceuticals, ergonomic furniture, stationery, infant safety technology, brain development tools and more were on display. Most significantly, the event is well-supported by key associations such as the Toy Association of India (TAI), an apex body of the toy fraternity in India representing over 500 industry members; the All India Association of Industries (AIAI); the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) and the Indian Importers Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IICCI).
Adjacent to the expo, a two-day conference was organised to deliver unique and innovative value propositions to exhibitors and visitors alike. Day 1 focused on the subject of 'Intellectual Property Law and Licensing'. A panel discussion on what licensors should expect from the licensees in India and vice versa was held. It also discussed ways to raise awareness of the lucrative benefits of licensing to the Indian business community.
Day 2 will witness a Fashion N Kids Conclave that will veer on innovations, quality control and technology in the kids wear segment. Topics of discussion will include - 'Kids wear: An emerging sector in Textile industry in India', 'Role of Viscose in kids wear', 'Quality control issues in kids wear', 'Innovation in Diaper Technology for kids', 'Innovation in Garmenting Techniques' and 'Use of Dyes & Chemicals in kids wear'. Panel discussions, presentations and Q&A sessions will also be a part of Day 2.
To lend more perspective, the Cool Kids Fashion India event highlighted premium kids fashion accessories and clothing (age 0-14 years) from both well-known & emerging designers, brands and manufacturers. The Innovation Product Corner showcased creations that highlighted design excellence, product safety, innovations and much more.
Speaking at the inauguration of CBME India 2017, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, "The domestic baby, maternity and childcare products market was considered to be a niche industry from an Indian perspective. However, with an increase in disposable income of parents, a change in their consumer habits and a renewed focus on child safety and well-being, this high potential industry is now ready for a major growth spurt that will transform it into an independent and thriving industry. An increasing media exposure, awareness amongst women, the culture of malls and online shopping have provided a platform to the branded segment to launch and position their offerings to India's affluent consumer base. And yet, apart from conventional practices, stringent rules relating to infant care that rightfully exist, sometimes create a paucity of information and availability of novel products in this segment."
He added, "It is here that unique initiatives like CBME India play a very important part to provide information and education as well as the inspiration to raise the bar for the children and maternity market. While the baby care and children products are evolving, an even greater potential exists for the maternity products segment that needs to be unravelled."
Industry reactions and launches at CBME 2017
Mr. Dinanath Upmanyu, Director - Brand & Marketing, Olele Kids Clothing
"There is a popular saying 'Child is father of the man' and nowadays this saying is meaningful. With the growing number of nuclear families, the child is the centre of decision making and that has changed the way our industry is advancing. Due to an increase in the number of working moms, we have evolved a new line of products. Being the growing kids clothing brand, we at Olele truly enjoy the change and see huge scope ahead. CBME India is a great platform for the B2B category. After gaining huge acceptance and respect from the e-commerce segment, we are all set to enter into the offline market, such as large format retailers, wholesale dealers and retailers. We are willing to explore the opportunity that CBME India is offering by unveiling our range of kids' clothing line there. We are expecting a good turnout of people from the wholesale and retail businesses at the expo. CBME India is managed by world's leading event company UBM India and it's good to see their organisation skills and attempt to give ease to both its exhibitors and visitors. CBME India 2017 is going to be our first exhibition and we hope to be a regular exhibitor as we can see how great this expo is turning ahead."
Ms. Namita Saxena, Founder Director, Baby Essentials Private Limited
"In my viewpoint, while the so called Maternity and Child segment exists, however, it is yet to reach the stage of being called an Industry in itself. Currently, it is highly scattered and unorganized, with no definite quality yardsticks or defined standards to follow. Our company understands the importance of postnatal period for the mother and the newborn and therefore, its unique product range focuses on providing disposable, sterilized clothing solutions to the neonatal, and easing out the stress of a nursing mother. We are expecting people from the Health and Medical industry to be a part of this expo in a big way to witness a positive change. The CBME India 2017 will also witness an innovative range of newborn clothing for the newborn and the mother in an infection free environment, thereby ensuring a safe-hygienic start for every newborn by Baby Essentials Pvt. Ltd."
Mr. Deepak Raghavan, President, Posh Baby and Kids India
"In India, there is scope for play mats that are focused on safety, education and development. Parents these days are more aware of what's out there. They read up more and are better educated about parenting and child-related issues and topics. There is a greater chance of them understanding why our Dwinguler, Babycare & Bebe Dom play mats are a better choice than the ones currently available in the market. Also, we are offering very high quality Playpen and sofas for kids. CBME India is the event where we can showcase our products, find new business leads and contacts."
Mr. Suresh Menon, Director, Arete Marketing LLP
"The Children Baby Maternity Industry is a rising one; with the young population having a high disposable income, and consumer aspirations catapulting this industry to greater heights in the coming years. CBME India provides us a wide platform for showcasing our company and the international brands that we represent, to relevant business associates. At this expo we are trying to reach out to our audience and take this opportunity to launch the 'Bentley Tricycle' which will also be launched worldwide in May 2017. We are also showcasing 'Graco', the world leader in Infant mobility & child care. As innovation and latest fashion trends are what that drives this industry, we will be focusing on eco friendly, safer and greater quality toys, and on new concepts like sustainable play to create a better child and a better world which is changing the consumer behaviour."
Mr. Neil Gadihoke, Chief Manager Sales, Browntape Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
"Potential sale on E-Commerce platforms are immense. The children, baby and maternity products industry will flourish especially in the Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, where the aspirations are high, buying power is increasing, but the availability of branded stores or goods is a challenge. E-Commerce is the route to this market. We are expecting a good exposure from CBME 2017."
Mr. Anil Dagade, Director, Kudos Kids Utilities Pvt Ltd.
"We have been visiting the CBME India for 3 years and this is our first time as an exhibitor. This platform offers global exposure for our products. We are looking forward to develop our brand and showcase our products through this expo."

"Our forte is Kids' Ethinic Wear and thus, at CBME India 2017, we hope to meet various multichain and independent storeowners, and also independent buyers, with whom we can have tie-ups. We have seen that various international brands have ventured into the Indian market and the Indian brands have to keep up with the competition. This is our first time as participants at the CBME India and we wish to promote our brand, create awareness and connect with various players in the industry."

We expect great exposure and hope to see launches of products and various brands."
Mr. Sendilkumaar Muthukaruppan, Owner, Meenakshi Overseas

CBME India is trying to channelise the children, baby and maternity products industry through this show. Mr. Nikhil Ranade, Head of supply chain, RBG Trading & Ecommerce Private Limited
"We have seen unorganised trading in this industry but because of boost in e-commerce and change in the process of trading, new technologies have come up which will lead to an industry growth of 20% - 30% in the coming 3-4years. As we are new, we expect to see many retailers visiting which will lead them to understand about the market and requirements of the people from this industry. We want to see many people coming from playschool as the products which we are showcasing deals with them."
Mr. Bharatveer, Managing Director, Rondeyvoo Eurasia Pvt. Ltd.
