"Bright Horizons Family Solutions provides a shining example of how a company can have a positive impact on a major social issue," said Ackerman Institute for the Family President Lois Braverman. "The Ackerman Institute for the Family is delighted to recognize Linda Mason and Roger Brown with the Ackerman Corporate Partner Award for their work providing families with the support and resources they need to meet the challenges of caring for their children while meeting their obligations at work and for helping children worldwide develop the skills they need to succeed in school and in life."

The award was presented at the Ackerman Institute's 2nd annual Tribute to Families dinner, which is the Ackerman Institute's largest event to support their mission of providing innovative clinical family therapy services for families in the greater New York community. For nearly 50 years, the Ackerman Institute for the Family (www.ackerman.org) has helped couples and families learn how to be stronger, more resilient, and better equipped to cope with the challenges of modern life.

Ackerman Institute therapists work with families on a range of serious and often life-altering issues such as divorce, incest or other types of sexual abuse, coping with death or a serious illness, and teenagers struggling with depression or other types of mental illness. Families seen at the Ackerman Clinic are typically from poor and underserved communities, and the family therapy provided by the Ackerman Institute can play a major role in helping families to address their problems and gain the understanding and strength they need at a critical point in their lives.

"Roger and I deeply admire the important work that the staff and therapists of the Ackerman Institute do every day for families in New York," said Linda Mason, who along with husband Roger Brown founded Bright Horizons in Cambridge, MA in 1986. "Helping families work together to be successful and healthy has always been an underlying goal of the work that we have done both at Bright Horizons and in our community service initiatives, and we are honored to be recognized by an organization so committed to improving the lives of children and families."

Roger and Linda also co-founded and serve on the boards of the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children and Horizons for Homeless Children, a nonprofit organization that serves the needs of homeless mothers and their children throughout the Boston area. Linda is currently the Chair of the Bright Horizons Board of Directors as well as the Chair of Mercy Corps and member of the board of Human Rights Watch. Roger is President of Berklee College of Music and is a member of the boards of Bright Horizons, Boston After School and Beyond, Wheaton College, and Sonicbids. They have three children of their own.
