Blunt: Republican Health Care Agenda Focuses on Patients, Not Bureaucrats

Friday, July 25, 2008 General News J E 4
WASHINGTON, July 24 House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) issued the following statement this morning after House Republicans unveiled their proposals to reform and strengthen our nation's health care system - ideas that focus on the needs of patients instead of the interests of bureaucrats and special-interests:

"Democrats in Congress seem fixated on restricting the choices Americans have when it comes to health care. Add to that maddening bureaucracy and frivolous lawsuits - that are as much a part of the modern day health care system as scalpels and stethoscopes - and it isn't hard to see why quality health care is out of reach for millions of American families.

"Republicans are committed to making health care more portable and affordable for all Americans. Republicans will continue to advocate policies that will not only expand access to care but also improve the treatment patients receive.

"Doctors must be at the center of every medical decision patients make. And Republicans are committed to passing legislation that offers every American the option of patient-focused, affordable health care, free from the dictates of Washington bureaucrats and liberated from the endless red tape that inevitably follows them."
