Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Introduces BlueMedicare(SM) Group Retiree Products
"Employers are concerned about the costs associated with providing healthcoverage to employees and retirees," said Barbara Benevento, group vice-president, Senior Markets, BCBSF. "Now, more than ever, managing health carecosts demands sound planning and innovative ideas. With BlueMedicare Groupretiree plans, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida offers solutions that canhelp employers maintain their long-term commitment to their retirees."
Recent changes to Medicare regulations have created new alternatives forproviding health care and prescription drug benefits to retiree populationsthat can help employers control costs. If a group is self-funded, theemployer can move the risk of a Medicare-eligible population to a fullyinsured product. Groups can also take advantage of federal dollars they maynot be receiving through their current plan offerings.
BlueMedicare Group Rx and PPO plans are available statewide, while theBlueMedicare Group HMO plan is available in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beachcounties. BlueMedicare Group HMO will be available in additional counties in2008. BlueMedicare Group PPO and HMO plans may be offered to Medicare-eligible retirees and their Medicare-eligible dependents.
