WASHINGTON, March 22 Former presidential candidate Gary Bauer on Monday called the passage of the Obama Health Care bill in the midnight hours "the largest expansion of the federal government in American history and a tragic mistake. Elections have consequences. The only remedy for this disaster is at the ballot box."

The chairman of the Campaign for Working Families expressed great disappointment with the collapse of the coalition of pro-life Democrats whose suhrrender on Sunday allowed the passage of a pro-abortion "health bill."

Bauer made the following statement:

"Respect for life, and respect for the consciences of the vast majority of Americans was disregarded as Rep. Bart Stupak threw his support late in the day to President Obama with the hollow promise of an executive order which has all the power of a band aid - easy to put on, easy to pull off. An executive order will not override the law of the land, which the abortion funding health care proposal will be when President Obama signs it into law this week."

"I stand with the seven out of ten Americans who do not support the use of their tax money to end human life. I stand with the vast majority of Americans who did not want the government to take over their health care. And I will be standing with them in the fall when those members of Congress who voted for this mess are called to account for their colossal mistake.

"This is not the end of the matter. Soon many members of Congress will be joining the ranks of the unemployed."
