The Grip is the first in the family of OSSAnchor(TM) nitinol soft tissueimplants, designed to secure soft tissue to bone. The Grip is a nitinolimplant with aggressive barbs on the legs for bone adhesion, and teeth on theunderside of the implant for grasping of soft tissue. The Grip is ideal forupper and lower extremity soft tissue procedures, such as the Achilles tendonreattachment, anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, and biceps tenodesis.

Made of nitinol, a biocompatible alloy possessing shape memory and super-elastic properties, the OSSAnchor(TM) Grip implant is inserted at roomtemperature. Using BME's patented OSSforce(TM) Implant Controller, the implantis safely heated above body temperature. During this process, the implant'slegs change shape to anchor into bone. In addition, the movement of the legspulls the bridge of the staple down onto the tendon securing it against bone. After heating, the nitinol structure transforms into a state approximately 20%stronger than 316L stainless steel. Due to nitinol's unique properties, theimplant continues to maintain an anchoring compressive force in bone overtime.
The OSSAnchor(TM) Grip is also the first orthopaedic nitinol implant tofeature barbs for improved pull-out resistance, a new surface treatment thatminimizes nickel release, and a roughened surface texture for bone in-growth.
The OSSAnchor(TM) Grip implant was showcased by BME at the TexasOrthopaedic Association's Annual Meeting held May 22-24, in San Antonio,Texas. A national launch will take place at the American Orthopaedic Foot andAnkle Society summer meeting in Denver, Colorado being held June 25-28.
