DETAILS: D tour, the award-winning documentary about Pat Spurgeon, drummer for indie rock band Rogue Wave, will screen from 12:35 pm-2:10 pm Monday, May 3rd and Tuesday, May 4th. The screenings offer a chance for guests of the transplant conference to have a look at the extraordinary story that raises the issues of organ donation, health insurance, friendship and the perseverance of following one's dreams. Filmmaker Jim Granato and Rogue Wave's Pat Spurgeon (D tour's main subject) will attend screenings and are available for discussion on Monday and Tuesday. After the success of Pat's first kidney transplant 13 years ago, the kidney started to fail just as Rogue Wave started to take off. The feature documentary, D tour, chronicles Pat's search for a living organ donor and the challenges associated with finding a viable match. Pat's choice to keep touring and working toward the band's goals is put to the test; the absolute need to perform dialysis daily and to focus on his health became a top priority while being on the road. D tour also addresses issues with the health care system, the lack of affordable insurance, the importance of organ donation, and more. The film features performances from Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie), Nada Surf, John Vanderslice, The Moore Brothers, and Rogue Wave. D tour has won several awards including the Golden Gate award for Bay Area Documentary Feature from the San Francisco International Film Festival and the Jury Prize for Best Documentary from the Bend Film Festival. Rogue Wave Drummer, Pat Spurgeon, plus Director and Producer, Jim Granato, will be present at the screening for Q&A.

The 10th annual American Transplant Congress 2010 (ATC), a joint meeting sponsored by the American Society of Transplant Surgeons (ASTS) and the American Society of Transplantation (AST), is the premiere meeting in transplantation medicine and science.
