Dr. Robert Allen, Regional Medical Director, North Asia, International SOS Assistance, Inc.

As the Regional Medical Director for North Asia at International SOS, Dr. Robert Allen provides leadership and operational guidance to the company's assistance, clinic and remote site medical services in China, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Working out of Singapore, he is a member of the International SOS crisis management team that is responding to the bombings in Jakarta's Mega Kuningan business district.

Previously, Dr. Allen held executive roles with CIGNA, Aetna and Great West Healthcare. Most recently, he was the Vice President and Asia-Pacific Regional Medical Director for Great West Healthcare, with regional ownership of all medical services and programs, business development and strategy. Dr. Allen began his career with a joint appointment between the regional trauma centers at the Universities of Nebraska and Iowa.

An American, Dr. Allen graduated as an MD from Creighton University with post-graduate training in Internal Medicine, Inpatient Medicine and Emergency Medicine. He also holds credentials from the American College of Physician Executives.

Tony Ridley, Director, Security Services, APAC, International SOS Assistance, Inc.

As the Director, Security Services, - APAC, Mr. Tony Ridley is responsible for the delivery of all security services to clients across the Asia Pacific. These functions include the daily monitoring and analysis of political and security events, the provision of security advice and the coordination of political evacuation operations for clients. He also supervises and is involved in the execution of security assessments, crisis management plans, security and crisis training, and other specialized security consultancy projects for clients as required across the region. Working from the Singapore alarm center, Mr. Ridley is a member of the International SOS crisis management team that is responding to the Jakarta bombings.

Mr. Ridley has spent the past five years in a wide variety of security and business support roles, including managing security for companies in remote locations, serving as a security specialist and conducting protective operations in Iraq, and serving as director of one of the largest security companies in Southeast Asia.

Mr. Ridley began his career with nearly 14 years on the Australian Army, serving predominately in Special Operations with the Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment. Mr. Ridley holds diplomas in Security Operations Management and Search and Rescue along with advance linguistics and is an active member in the American Society for Industrial Security.

WHO: Dr. Robert Allen and security specialist Mr. Tony Ridley, members of a crisis management team assisting clients affected by the bombings in Jakarta's Mega Kuningan business district. WHY: International SOS has formed a crisis management team made up of medical, security, aviation, logistical and communications specialists from their Jakarta, Singapore and Philadelphia alarm centers. Three medical teams have been deployed from International SOS' Jakarta alarm center to three local hospitals where the injured have been taken to identify and assist members. Security experts from the crisis management team are part of the joint venture between International SOS and Control Risks, the world's leading security risk management organization. WHAT: The crisis management team is working to ensure that all members receive necessary medical care (including, where necessary, evacuations), provide on-the-ground security support, and advise travelers arriving into Jakarta of the situation on the ground. To-date, International SOS has provided assistance to more than 20 clients after the bombings. The International SOS' clinic in Kuningan has treated two patients who suffered minor injuries from the bomb blasts, and International SOS has evacuated two members from Jakarta to Singapore for further medical treatment. These members, an Indonesian national and an American, were escorted by a team of medical experts from International SOS and have since been admitted to a local hospital to receive necessary medical attention.
