Aurora's Milwaukee Hospitals Recognized in US News and World Report

MILWAUKEE, July 16 Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is among the top 50 hospitals in the nation in two different specialties, according to US News and World Report's "2009 America's Best Hospitals" edition. Additionally, in the same publication, St. Luke's and Aurora Sinai Medical Center were recognized by the American Heart / Stroke Association for their cardiac and stroke care.

US News and World Report named St. Luke's 38th in geriatric care and 50th in digestive disorders.

St. Luke's and Aurora Sinai Medical Center, were also recognized by the American Heart / Stroke Association's "Get With the Guidelines" program. This recognition focuses on whether a hospital follows the most up-to-date guidelines and recommendations for treating coronary artery disease, heart failure and stroke treatment.

Aurora Sinai achieved gold recognition for stroke care. Chief administrative officer at Aurora Sinai, George Hinton says, "Our caregivers always strive to provide the best care for their patients. This award is a testament to their work and dedication to our patients and our community."

A gold in heart failure and stroke, and silver in coronary artery disease, awarded St. Luke's with another year of Triple Recognition. This facility was the only hospital in Wisconsin to achieve this level of recognition, joining a select group of 36 hospitals.

"Being recognized by US News and the American Heart and Stroke Association is an honor and an affirmation of the terrific work our caregivers provide," says St. Luke's chief administrative officer, Mary O'Brien.
