Prior to joining the foundation, Ms. Bertonaschi worked in the Georgia Department of Human Resources' Division of Public Health as a program supervisor, program manager, and developmental health coordinator. In this role, she was responsible for supporting the state of Georgia's Newborn Hearing Screening, Children 1st, and Newborn Surveillance and Tracking program managers. She implemented and managed the public health nurse home visitation project. She provided training and technical assistance to public health, childcare, and other agencies regarding child development, developmental screening, and social and emotional development. She also served as co-chair for the Early Childhood Comprehensive System's Social/Emotional Development Work Group.

Ms. Bertonaschi's experience also includes positions as a team leader, service coordinator, and healthy child development consultant at Alliance for Infants and Toddlers, Inc.; service manager at Mercy Behavioral Health; and caseworker, admission specialist and vocational counselor at the Vocational Rehabilitation Center in Pittsburgh, PA. She has an M.S. in Child Development/Child Care from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.S. in Social Work from the California University of Pennsylvania.
