SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Feb. 23 The Enterprise Mobility Solutions business of Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT), today announced that Peleton Systems, a leading systems integrator and member of Motorola's channel partner program, has deployed its enterprise mobility solution at ArchCare, the Continuing Care Community of the Archdiocese of New York. Motorola's solution combines reliable and secure wireless LAN (WLAN) infrastructure with its field-proven MC70 Enterprise Digital Assistants (EDA) to support ArchCare's transition to an electronic medical record (EMR) system. ArchCare provides a wide range of managed care and community services for over 5,000 nursing home residents in the Greater New York City area.

"Moving from manual to real-time, computer-based record-keeping is a major initiative that involved about 2,500 employees and seven ArchCare nursing home facilities. We were looking for a scalable wireless solution to compliment the EMR system and increase operational efficiency across our network," said Mitze Amoroso, vice president of information technology and CIO, ArchCare. "We chose Motorola's healthcare solution because it provides reliable and secure delivery of vital clinical applications and facilitates point-of-care data entry, helping us meet our goals of enhancing quality of care and patient safety."

The enterprise mobility solution combines Motorola's award-winning RFS6000 and RFS7000 WLAN switches/controllers and field-proven AP300 access points to provide reliable and secure Wi-Fi connectivity throughout ArchCare facilities. The wireless network is powered by Motorola's Wireless Next Generation (Wi-NG) architecture, which offers a comprehensive feature set, including adaptive AP technology for unparalleled resiliency, a real-time locationing system (RTLS) for real-time asset tracking, SMART RF management to dynamically address changes in the RF environment, and a wireless firewall for maximized Layer 2 and 3 protection.

Motorola's reliable and secure WLAN infrastructure enables ArchCare staff to leverage MC70 EDAs for mobile access to EMR software and patient data at the bedside. This rugged EDA enables nurses and staff to capture documentation immediately and accurately, reducing time spent on administrative work and increasing contact with patients. The MC70 EDA is designed to meet a broad array of needs in the extended care community, supporting positive patient ID, medication administration and asset management functions, to improve patient safety. By using the MC70 EDA on Motorola's WLAN, customers gain additional benefits, such as faster, more secure roaming and extended device battery life, improving their ability to provide seamless, always-on patient service. An optional purchase, Motorola's Service from the Start program provides repair coverage for MC70 EDAs above and beyond standard warranty, helping lower total cost of ownership, protect customer investments and productivity, and provide service peace of mind.

"Peleton Systems recommended Motorola's enterprise mobility solution for ArchCare because we know from experience that the products provide a reliable, yet cost-effective solution from both implementation and support standpoints," said Darius Milani, principal, Peleton Systems. "One of the key strengths of a Motorola wireless system is its ability to manage and fine-tune the network through the Motorola switches, so we can balance the network through one central dashboard, rather than going through multiple access points."

Motorola's innovative enterprise mobility solution will be used by the full staff at each ArchCare location, including certified nursing assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, physicians, dietitians, rehabilitation staff, recreational staff and others. When implementation is complete, more than 350 Motorola MC70 EDAs will be used for documentation at the point of care.

"As more healthcare organizations turn to wireless to increase operational efficiencies, it's important that they invest in solutions that support current needs, while laying a foundation for future requirements," said Vivian Funkhouser, principal, Global Healthcare Solutions, Motorola Enterprise Mobility Solutions. "By deploying Motorola solutions, ArchCare has the infrastructure and tools in place to provide reliable delivery of clinical applications now and into the future."

Motorola delivers seamless connectivity that puts real-time information in the hands of users, which gives customers the agility they need to grow their business or better serve and protect the public. Working seamlessly together with its world-class devices, Motorola's unrivaled wireless network solutions include indoor wireless LAN, outdoor wireless mesh, point-to-multipoint, point-to-point networks and voice-over-WLAN solutions. Combined with powerful software tools for wireless network design, best-of-breed security, management and troubleshooting, Motorola's solutions deliver trusted networking and access anywhere to organizations across the globe.
