SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 21, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Appstem, a leading design and development firm, announced a technology partnership
The project, which includes collaboration with UC San Francisco's (UCSF) Clinical Informatics program, is funded by a grant from the federal Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality. It is led by Peter Yellowlees MD, professor of psychiatry at UC Davis and president-elect of the American Telemedicine Association, who has been researching telemedicine for more than 20 years. Co-investigator on the project is UCSF fellow Steven Chan, MD MBA.
Appstem was selected based on their years of development experience along with their focus on the health care industry, working with such companies as Kaiser Permanente, Cerner, Genentech, and Cambia Health.
This next generation web platform will reduce the time and complexity involved in translating and transcribing non-English speaking patient interview videos. "We've seen an increased interest in telemedicine from a number of our healthcare clients and we believe this technology will transform the healthcare industry by providing patients with more options regarding when and how they receive care," said Robert Armstrong, CEO at Appstem.
UC Davis Health will deploy Appstem's software and engage the company's health care expertise in areas such as HIPPA compliance and security, which will enable their psychiatrists to securely record and share patient video interviews with other physicians and health care providers.
