Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Partnership Plan Unveils Community Resource Center in Columbus to Serve Medicaid Enrollees

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 19 Anthem Blue Cross Blue ShieldPartnership Plan of Ohio today announced the opening of its first CommunityResource Center (CRC) in Columbus, Ohio. With many of Ohio's Medicaidenrollees living in the Columbus area, the CRC will provide access to outreachservices, health education referrals, translation and other specializedservices for Healthy Start/Healthy Families and Aged, Blind and Disabledmembers. The Columbus opening coincides with two other CRC openings in Toledoand Cleveland.

"Servingthe Medicaid population requires highly personalized service. In order for ourmembers to get access to the care they need, we have to help them secure othercritical resources, such as housing, job placement, child care andtransportation information that can help remove barriers to accessing thatcare."

The CRC is part of a unique community-based model designed and developedby Anthem to deliver more individualized health care coordination to itsmembers and their communities. Staffed by a dedicated, bilingual team, the CRCoffers local residents and providers a facility that can design healthprograms and services to address specific community needs, such as disease-specific programs for asthma or diabetes.

The CRCs are also a vital community partner. The Columbus CRC will awardgrants to three organizations that provide important programs and resourcesthat help improve the quality of life for underserved people in the differentcommunities it serves. These organizations include:
