The ECAD decontamination and remediation system(www.fostermiller.com/ecadsproduct.htm ) disperses fine electrically chargeddroplets of decontaminant into the air. Because of the static charge impartedto aerosol particles, ECADS delivers a much higher amount of disinfectant ontargeted surfaces than conventional air assisted spray systems; approximately60% of the total disinfectant dispensed on the surface by the ECADS sprayer, versus less than 15% for conventional sprayers.
Last November EnviroSystems announced the selection of EnviroTru(R) as thedisinfectant of choice by the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area TransitAuthority (Metro). The Company stated that in addition to daily applicationof EnviroTru(R) on high hand contact areas, Metro has contingency plans in theevent of a pandemic flu or other infectious disease outbreak. In such anevent, Metro is prepared to use EnviroTru(R) with the Foster-Miller ECADS tocompletely spray rail cars, buses and other vehicles daily.
"Based in part on our success with the Washington Metro system we areanxious to rapidly expand this decontamination system approach," stated J.Lloyd Breedlove, ESI President and CEO. "The combination of an extremelyefficient, easy-to-administer spray system and a highly efficaciousdisinfectant with a favorable materials compatibility and environmentalprofile is a unique and practical solution to many infection preventionproblems. We feel this solution has wide application, particularly thedecontamination of large, high-traffic areas, and we intend to aggressivelypursue that market opportunity," Mr. Breedlove explained.
According to Foster-Miller, Inc. representative, Rick Lusignea, "We arepleased that we have joined forces with ESI to offer better solutions in thefight against the spread of infectious diseases. With a growing andincreasingly mobile society the challenge of preventing the spread ofinfectious microorganisms has increased exponentially in recent years. Thecombination of ESI's disinfectant and our decontamination system offers a veryeffective and pragmatic approach to helping prevent the spread of infectiousmicroorganisms while minimizing the harmful effects to people, surfaces andthe environment."
