WASHINGTON, May 29 The Lupus Foundation of America (LFA) congratulates Annie and Tom of Chicago, Illinois for advancing to the next round in the NBC TODAY Show's annual "Race to the Altar." The competition is now down to three couples who seek to be married in June on the plaza outside the TODAY Show studio in New York.

The Lupus Foundation of America is supporting Annie and Tom's efforts to be selected as this year's winning couple. Annie was diagnosed with lupus at age 17. Because lupus is a lifelong and sometimes disabling chronic disease, Annie feared that she would never find true love or be accepted for who she really is as a person. However, it was Annie's inner strength and drive that grew from her struggles with lupus that her future husband, Tom, admires about her most.

People with lupus and their families are rallying behind the couple. They know that Annie has had to deal with the physical challenges of lupus, but they also understand the emotional toll that lupus can take on individuals and families affected by this serious and life-changing disease.

The LFA is asking the lupus community to support Annie and Tom in the "Race to the Altar." The deadline for voting in the next round is noon, Eastern Time on Monday, June 2. Your votes for Annie and Tom are critically important as the competition heats up!

Cast your vote through the TODAY Show Website at today.msnbc.com, and by texting the number "3" to 46833.
