SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The American Dental Association (ADA) introduces the Live Operatory Center (LOC), an innovative new learning environment for dental professionals, at this year's Annual Session, October 16-19 in San Antonio.

Designed to bring continuing education to the exhibit floor, the Live Operatory Center offers continuing education units outside of the traditional classroom setting as attendees experience the latest dental technologies on the market. The LOC features three interactive areas that explore cutting-edge topics in dentistry: The Laser Pavilion, the CAD/CAM Stage, and the 3-D Imaging Center.

The Laser Pavilion was developed by the ADA in partnership with the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD). At the Laser Pavilion, attendees can see, touch and compare dental lasers from leading manufacturers. Joel White, DDS and Donald Coluzzi, DDS direct this hands-on workshop. The course repeats four times daily (twice Wednesday).
At the CAD/CAM Stage, attendees will see a 45-minute, live-patient demonstration from two exhibiting companies, including the making of a dental crown through their computerized design and manufacturing systems.
At the 3-D Imaging Center, attendees can view and compare six of the latest offerings in imaging technology through consecutive, 25-minute presentations.

Dental professionals also can learn more about ADA365, the ADA's education-based online community, at the Live Operatory Center when they visit Cafe365. Launched in June 2008, ADA365 offers Annual Session registrants the opportunity to expand their learning when they log on to ADA365.org, create a profile, and begin sharing research, related readings and other information related to the course topic.
The Live Operatory Center is located in Hall A of the World Marketplace Exhibition, adjacent to the Annual Session registration area in Ballroom A. It is open on Wednesday, October 15 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:45 p.m., and Thursday, October 16 through Saturday, October 18 from 8:00 a.m. until 5:45 p.m.
More than 30,000 dental professionals from throughout the United States and around the world are expected to attend the 149th ADA Annual Session and World Marketplace Exhibition, held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
