The integration between Allscripts and Google products provides physicianswith a new means of sharing their patient's medication history securely overthe Internet with their patients via Google Health.

Google Health is a new product that allows users to store, organize, andmanage their medical records securely online. The product is free to patientsand partners who integrate and can be found at http://www.google.com/health.The relationship with Allscripts allows patients to securely transfer theirmedication history, allergies, and conditions from their physician'sAllscripts ePrescribe application to the patient's Google Health account.

If a patient has a physician who uses the Allscripts ePrescribe solution,they can ask for a secure personal identification number (PIN) from theirphysician to establish a sharing link between the physician's AllscriptsePrescribe solution and Google Health. Once the sharing relationship isestablished, the patient is able to securely import their medication history,allergies and conditions into their Google Health Account.

The new law alsopenalizes physicians who do not use the technology, with Medicare pay cuts ofup to 2 percent beginning in 2013. The bill allows for some exceptions to therule.
