"While Medicis Pharmaceutical remains the strongest competitor in thedermal filler market, Allergan's Juvederm product line is increasingcompetition," says Jennifer Thomas, Analyst at Millennium Research Group."Even though there is lively contest for share, the facial aesthetic marketoverall continues to expand and benefit many participating companies in theUS."

From 2004 to 2007, the facial aesthetic market has grown from over $68million to over $317 million. This strong market growth has been driven byincreased public awareness and societal acceptance of minimally invasivecosmetic procedures. In North America, direct-to-consumer advertising by majorcompetitors such as Allergan and Medicis is extremely common and has resultedin high patient demand for dermal filler procedures.
