The FXB Center at Harvard was founded in 1993 by Ms. du Boisrouvray as the first academic center to focus exclusively on the dynamic between the issues of health and human rights, combining the academic strengths of research and teaching commitment to service and policy development. FXB International is the field laboratory of the FXB Center at Harvard and is the first NGO to have translated the rights outlined in the convention on the rights of the child into effective service delivery in impoverished settings. The Center under Jennifer Leanings leadership will continue providing experiential training opportunities to young scholars and students at FXB international field operations.

FXB is an international non-profit development organization whose mission is to fight poverty and AIDS and to support the world's orphans and vulnerable children. Over the last twenty years, FXB international has transformed the lives of people through its pragmatic three year time bound and unique FXB Village Network methodology, using the inextricable link of development , health and human rights -- which, should be taken to scale, could contribute to the eradication of global poverty.

Founded in 1989, FXB stands for Francois-Xavier Bagnoud, a helicopter rescue pilot who died during a mission at age 24. In 1989, his mother, Albina du Boisrouvray, his family and friends founded FXB in order to perpetuate the values of generosity and compassion that guided his life.
