Akerman Senterfitt Expands Healthcare Practice

MIAMI, Nov. 14 Akerman Senterfitt today announced threeadditions to the firm's healthcare practice. J. Everett Wilson, MichaelGennett and Marisa Rodriguez have joined the firm's Miami office asShareholder, Of Counsel and Associate, respectively. Healthcare has been animportant growth area for Akerman. In July, Akerman added two healthcareattorneys in the Tallahassee office, and in the last 3 months, Akerman hasadded more than 25 attorneys in several key practice areas.

In keeping with the firm's growth plan, today's announcement is furtherevidence of Akerman's commitment to strategic organic growth. Akerman has beensteadily enhancing its presence in all aspects of healthcare, including inlitigation, intellectual property, non-governmental organizations andcorporate transactions. With these additions in Miami, the firm now has 25full-time healthcare attorneys, four of whom are board certified in healthlaw. Messrs. Wilson and Gennett and Ms. Rodriguez join Akerman from Shutts &Bowen, LLP where they were members of the Health Law Practice Group, which waschaired by Mr. Wilson, in the firm's Miami office. For almost 20 years, Mr.Wilson has successfully represented healthcare professionals and otherproviders in various types of licensing and reimbursement disputes, andnegotiated managed care, non-compete, employment, and many other types ofagreements specific to the health care industry. Mr. Gennett joins Akermanwith a Board Certification in Health Law by the Florida Bar, and is devoted torepresenting healthcare practitioners and institutional providers. Ms.Rodriguez's practice focuses on representing healthcare providers, includinghome health agencies, clinics, physicians, and independent diagnostic testingfacilities.
