"It's not just that we provide a forum that showcases essential technology to bridge the gap between ability and disability," said David Korse, president and CEO of Abilities Expo. "The Expo is always new and exciting with a host of all-inclusive, adaptive activities."

Admission to Abilities Expo is free and the show hours will be Friday 11 am to 5 pm, Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday 11 am to 4 pm.

Complimentary loaner scooters, wheelchair repair and sign language interpreters will also be available during show hours.

"The Expo provides the community of people with disabilities access to life-enhancing products, education, resources and fun," said Korse. "Most of all, it's a celebration of what you can do, not what you can't."

Abilities Meet Up ZoneIn the tradition of a town square, the Abilities Meet Up Zone is a dedicated area on the show floor where attendees can interact with peers. Regardless of an individual's need—whether they have a spinal cord injury from a recent accident, are parents to a child with autism or have a debilitating disease—he or she can meet other attendees, interact with experts, share experiences and get answers to his or her most urgent questions. And the kids will love the face painting and photo booth.

"In order to engage our community and provide them with a more experiential visit, we have created this Zone for attendees to interact with each other and meet one-on-one with experts knowledgeable about the types of disabilities they may have," said Abilities Expo Co-owner Lew Shomer. "It is the next step in enhancing the overall Expo experience for our attendees."

Latest Products and ServicesAttendees will experience cutting-edge products and services for people with a wide range of disabilities. They will find mobility products, devices for people with developmental disabilities, medical equipment, home accessories, essential services, low-cost daily living aids, products for people with sensory impairments and much more. The Assistive Technology Showcase will feature cutting-edge AT for people to experience hands-on.

Relevant WorkshopsA series of compelling workshops which address pressing disability issues will be offered free-of-charge to all attendees. Sessions will focus on travel, emergency preparedness, bionics, living well with chronic pain, the latest SCI research, home accessibility, financial planning, assistive technology, pediatric therapy and more. On May 7, caregivers are welcome for sessions on stress relief, better sleep and future planning. CEU-earning, career development seminars for physical therapists, occupational therapists and other disability professionals will be offered on May 5.

Adaptive Sports, Dancing, Cooking and MoreAbilities Expo does not merely inform, it engages and it entertains. Attendees of all levels of ability can test their skills with adaptive sports like quad rugby, wheelchair basketball, ride-along racing and meet wheelchair motocross athlete Jerry Diaz. Dancing opportunities abound at the Expo. There are modern dance performances, ballroom dancing and dancing beyond disability. Expo-goers can learn adaptive cooking techniques as well as manual wheelchair skills like curb hopping and wheelies.

WAV Walk Around WellnessThere will be a free 26-point check-up service for your wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV), by appointment only. The inspection includes interior/exterior, WAV conversion, under hood, under carriage and more.

Meet the AnimalsAnimals have become an intrinsic part of the disability community. Some are essential to the healing process, while others help their human partners become more independent. Expo-goers will enjoy demonstrations by assistance dogs and important information on therapy horses.
