AT&T Signs New Contract With MetroHealth System

CLEVELAND, Nov. 19 AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) hasannounced a new contract to deliver wireless access to MetroHealth System, oneof the largest, most comprehensive health care providers in northeastern Ohiothat serves 15 locations across the state. Under the terms of the contract,AT&T will deliver an Aruba Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: ARUN) wireless local areanetwork (LAN) and identity-based security solution, including hardware,installation and maintenance to support approximately 3 million square feet ofwireless access for the hospital staff.

With AT&T providing installation and maintenance, the MetroHealth Systemsolution will provide secure wireless and wireline networking for voice, videoand data applications. The solution is designed to give hospital staff areliable, facilitywide wireless network that offers immediate,always-available access to patient and medical information on a single robust,cost-efficient converged platform.

"We wanted a wireless communications solution that uses advancedtechnologies to give our entire hospital staff immediate access to criticalpatient information and hospital inventory records," said Alan Greenslade,director of Information Services, Infrastructure, for MetroHealth System. "Byturning to AT&T and Aruba Networks for our wireless network, we can beconfident in the reliability of the communications services on which we dependto deliver superior patient care."

Since anytime connectivity to the hospital information system isimperative to patient care, MetroHealth System will be able to leverage theincreased reliability, scalability and security benefits brought by thewireless platform. The converged wireless data network will be designed tosecurely transfer confidential patient information between locationsthroughout the health care system and support voice communications and accessto the electronic medical records system. The network is also designed toprovide radio frequency identification (RFID) capability to locate medicalequipment, such as EKG carts, anywhere throughout the facility.
