ASP Launches STERRAD(R) Sterility Guide - Eliminating Paperwork and Ensuring Compliance
As more and more medical devices come to market and infection controlstandards are monitored by industry groups, there is an acute need to provideaccurate and up-to-date guidance to hospital staff on which devices can besterilized in STERRAD(R) Systems. To fulfill this unmet need and demonstrateits commitment to following the Association for the Advancement of MedicalInstrumentation (AAMI) and Association of periOperative Registered Nurses(AORN) Standards and Recommended Practices, ASP took the lead and developedthe STERRAD(R) Sterility Guide.
"I visit customers each week and I'm constantly surprised when I see themounds of outdated paperwork and thick manuals they need to sift through inorder to determine whether a device can be sterilized in a specificsterilizer," said Barbara Trattler, RN, MPA, CNOR, CNA, and Director ofClinical Education at ASP. "Now, with the STERRAD(R) Sterility Guide,STERRAD(R) System customers can simply visit the STERRAD(R) Web site at theirconvenience in order to receive a timely and accurate answer -- it's so easyand the results are current."
By following a few simple steps on the new, easy-to-use Web site,www.sterrad.com/sterilityguide, STERRAD(R) System customers can immediatelyobtain confirmation 24 hours a day, seven days a week as to whether a devicecan be sterilized in a STERRAD(R) System. All devices listed on the STERRAD(R)Sterility Guide have been approved for use in a STERRAD(R) System by theappropriate medical device manufacturer.
