AMERIGROUP to Expand Coverage Area in Florida Healthy Kids Program
The Board of Directors of Florida Healthy Kids today approved AMERIGROUPCommunity Care of Florida to continue to cover children in eight countieswhere it currently operates: Broward, Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, Orange, Pasco,Palm Beach, Pinellas and Polk. In addition, effective October 1, 2008,AMERIGROUP Community Care will begin offering coverage to children in Brevard,Lake, Manatee and Seminole counties, for a total of 12 counties.

Florida Healthy Kids is part of the State Children's Health InsuranceProgram (SCHIP), a joint federal-state initiative designed to provideaffordable healthcare coverage to families who otherwise would not get it.Florida Healthy Kids currently serves about 210,000 children statewide. Eightcare management organizations have been selected to participate in the programeffective October 1.
AMERIGROUP Community Care of Florida covers approximately 60,000 childrenthrough Florida Healthy Kids in the eight counties where it currentlyoperates. Of these eight counties, the Company currently competes with othercare management organizations in six. With the October 1 go-live, that numberwill decrease to five counties, as AMERIGROUP Community Care becomes the solecare management organization for Florida Healthy Kids in Pinellas. In thefour counties where AMERIGROUP is scheduled to begin operating October 1,AMERIGROUP has also been designated as the sole care management organizationfor Florida Healthy Kids. Those four counties currently have a combinedenrollment of about 14,000.
