The ACCU-CHEK Aviva system, withits large easy-fill test strip, easy to handle sure-grip meter, and pre-loadedlancet drum with no individual lancets to handle provides a full systemdesigned to meet the needs of people with diabetes and arthritis," said RocheProduct Marketing Manager Cathleen Stubblefield. "We are proud of thisaccomplishment."
About 60 percent of people with diabetes also have arthritis or otherdiseases of the joint, which can be a barrier to blood glucose testing. TheArthritis Foundation created a program to encourage manufacturers to designwith ease of use in mind. The program determines the accessibility and ease ofuse of everyday products by allowing people with arthritis to evaluate them. Each product must pass a series of rigorous evaluations.
"Arthritis is a serious health condition that can greatly affect thequality of life for everyone, particularly people with conditions likediabetes, where self-monitoring is crucial," said Scott Walters, group vicepresident for corporate relations at the Arthritis Foundation. "Through ourEase-of-Use commendation program, we hope that we can make people living witharthritis and diabetes aware of products that can help them not only maintaintheir independence but their health as well."
