A 31 member committee is supporting UHW members fighting attacks from AndyStern and Anna Burger, SEIU President and Secretary-Treasurer. Stern andBurger want secret, behind the scene deals and top-down, big business unionpolicies to continue while opposing UHW members attempt to make SEIU moredemocratic and accountable to members.
Stern now wants United Healthcare Workers-West placed in trusteeshipstripping members of control of their union. This follows Stern and Burgerlosing a lawsuit against Rosselli and UHW members. U.S. District Court JudgeJohn F. Walter dismissed it without a hearing saying it had no legal claim.Amazingly, Stern is using the same reason for justifying trusteeship.
With 150,000 members UHW is the largest and fastest growing healthcareworkers union in the western United States. Since 2000, 60,000 new memberswere organized.
