A New Way to Think Pink

MILWAUKEE, Dec. 3 Aurora Health Care's Women's Pavilion(http://www.aurorahealthcare.org) and Hair and Body Solutions Salon and Spa ofNew Berlin partnered for a new kind of think pink initiative for breastcancer; pink hair extensions.

Throughout the month of October, pink hair extensions were being sold for$15 each at the Aurora Women's Pavilion in West Allis and at Hair and BodySolutions Salon and Spa in New Berlin. The profits from these bright littleconversation starters were donated to the Young Women's Breast Cancer Fund atthe Aurora Women's Pavilion.

This fund was created to help women with the costs that health insurancedoes not cover. Some of these costs include items like wigs and painmedications. Total proceeds reached $10,386.

"Breast cancer is a disease which is a devastating diagnosis for anywoman," says Dr. Julie Kepple. "I am hopeful that these hair extensions helpedremind women that it is extremely important to have regular mammograms andthat regular screenings should always be a priority."

Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider anda national leader in efforts to improve the quality of care. Aurora providescare at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
