CHICAGO, May 1 "Lions club members and friends from all over Illinois will join in the 4th Annual 'Illinois Lions Walk for Sight' on June 1st," said Chairperson Ray Kruzinski. He went on to say that "the 3 mile walk, sponsored by the Lions of Illinois Foundation, is being held at the Danada Equestrian Center, 3S501 Naperville Road, Wheaton, Illinois beginning with registration at 3:30 p.m."

Unique to this Walk is the opportunity for community groups such as scouts, school clubs, booster clubs, church groups and baseball teams to have up to 40% of the total amount of donations collected by them, returned for their service activities. Walkers, groups and community organizations need to register through their local Lions, Lioness and Leo clubs, or directly with the Lions of Illinois Foundation office. A special "Walk for Sight" T-Shirt will be given to any Adult with $100.00 or more in donations in lieu of the registration fee of $20.00. Students and youth under 18 are free but are encouraged to collect $50.00 in donations to receive the special Walk T-Shirt. All registration forms, with donation money collected, must be turned in by June 1.

Van Stone, Foundation Director, suggested that "as this is a family day, to come out early to picnic, learn about Beep Baseball, walk the special obstacle course for the visually impaired, see the new hearing vans and sign your name on a footprint on the 'Walk for Sight' banner. The Walk officially begins at 4:30 p.m. and the 3 mile casual stroll through the Danada Forest Preserve is a pleasant way to spend the afternoon."

To walk for a great cause, go to www.helpthelions.org for more information and to find your local lions club or, contact the Foundation Office at 800-955-5466.

The Lions of Illinois Foundation is a 501(c) 3 corporation providing programs and services that annually reach over 18,000 Illinois children and adults with vision and hearing handicaps. Proceeds from the Walk will help to better serve the visually and hearing impaired in Illinois who still are in need of assistance and to also work towards eliminating preventable blindness.
