The 2020 Company, LLC, a provider of information technology solutions to the federal government and commercial clients, has selected Columbia, S.C.-based Companion Data Services (CDS) to provide data center hosting and related services for a project with the federal Medicare program. Medicare is administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), headquartered in Baltimore.
Under a 30-month contract, CDS (www.CompanionDataServices.com) will host applications and data the 2020 Company will use for maintenance of the Common Working File system for CMS. CDS, which also provides services directly to CMS, operates one of the largest, most secure health care information data centers in the world from its Columbia, S.C., headquarters. The company processed more than 760 million health insurance claims in 2009.
