The AVMA and the American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) are giving back to the Atlanta community during their annual convention by hosting "Trails for Tails," a 5K run/walk open to the public. "Trails for Tails" is raising funds for animal welfare programs and a local shelter – PAWS Atlanta, the city's oldest and largest animal shelter. PAWS will have some of their furry friends at the event as well.

AVMF—A Night at the Aquarium

Georgia Aquarium

Join the AVMA, AVMF and the Auxiliary to the AVMA for a fun-filled evening with the fishes at the world's largest aquarium. The Georgia Aquarium is home to more than 100,000 aquatic animals of 500 species including beluga whales, penguins and whale sharks. Tickets, available at the AVMA Registration Desk, are required.

Practical Techniques for Select Pocket Pet Species

This workshop is designed to offer the practitioner the opportunity to gain experience in procedures commonly performed on selected species of pocket pets. Mice, rats and rabbits will be used. A small portion of this workshop will be didactic; the majority will be hands on with ample opportunity for participants to practice the techniques.

This lecture will describe a Five-Step Hospice Care Plan developed by the speaker to act as a template so no part of a pet's care would get overlooked.
