Medical Word - Proinsulin

Ans : The molecule that is the precursor of insulin. When insulin is synthesized after extraction from the pancreas glands of animals (cows/pigs), the proinsulin molecule may be incompletely removed. Purified insulins contain less proinsulin and other types of impurities. Commercially available human insulins do not contain proinsulin.
