Approach to a child with headache.
A. History
• Ask for Family history of migraines
• H/o injury to head or neck (car accidents, slips and falls.
• Ask about activities that use trapezius (back packs with heavy books or gears or young ones
• Ask about the site , nature , and frequency of headache
• Ask about treatment given and response to treatment.
• Whether headache occurs at school or at home.
• Ask for associated symptoms like fever, vomiting, visual disturbances etc. (may indicate intracranial pathology).
