Approach to a child with headache.

A. History


 Ask for Family history of migraines

 H/o injury to head or neck (car accidents, slips and falls.

 Ask about activities that use trapezius (back packs with heavy books or gears or young ones

 Ask about the site , nature , and frequency of headache

 Ask about treatment given and response to treatment.

 Whether headache occurs at school or at home.

 Ask for associated symptoms like fever, vomiting, visual disturbances etc. (may indicate intracranial pathology).
