How to Take Typhoid Vaccine Live and it's Dose


Take this medication in an empty stomach. Vaccine not administered to patients treated with antibiotics or drugs like sulphonamide, which are active against the typhoid bacteria.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

Adult: Take 1 capsule on alternate days (day 1, 3 and 5) for a total of 3 doses; all doses should be completed at least 1 week before potential exposure.
Booster immunization: Repeat full course of primary immunization every 5 years if exposure continues.
Child: ≥6 years: Take 1 capsule on alternate days (day 1, 3 and 5) for a total of 3 doses; all doses should be completed at least 1 week before potential exposure.
Booster immunization: Repeat full course of primary immunization every 5 years if exposure continues.
Intra Muscular (IM) Adult: Initial: 0.5 ml, to be given for least 2 weeks before expected exposure.
Booster immunization: Repeat doses every 3 years if exposure continues.
Child: ≥2 yr: Initial: 0.5 ml, to be given at least 2 weeks before expected exposure.
Booster immunization: Repeat doses every 3 years if exposure continues.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with history of acute febrile illness or acute intestinal infection, allergic reactions and known hypersensitivity to the vaccine.
