How to Take Simeprevir and it's Dose


Simeprevir comes in the form of a capsule to be taken once daily with food. The capsule must be swallowed as a whole. Do not split, chew or crush the capsule.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

The recommended dose of simeprevir is 150mg capsule to be taken once daily along with food. The drug is administered along with peginterferon alpha and ribavirin for a period of 12 weeks. Treatment with peginterferon and ribavirin is continued for another 12 or 36 weeks depending on the patient’s condition.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Simeprevir is contraindicated in patients who are allergic to the drug and in pregnancy and breastfeeding since it can cause serious side effects to the baby. Pregnancy should be avoided for 6 months after completion of treatment. It should also not be taken by men whose partners are pregnant.
