How to Take Ethiodized Oil and it's Dose


It comes as a solution for injection to be administered by a well-trained healthcare provider.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

The injection should be started at a slow rate, i.e., 0.1 mL to 0.2 mL per minute.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

In Hysterosalpingography- contraindicated in patients with intrauterine pregnancy, acute pelvic inflammatory disease, marked cervical erosion, endocervicitis in the presence of intrauterine bleeding, in the immediate pre-or postmenstrual phase, or within 30 days of curettage or conization and hypersensitivity.
In Lymphography - contraindicated in patients with a right to left cardiac shunt, in patients with advanced pulmonary disease, especially those with alveolar-capillary block, and in patients who have undergone radiotherapy to the lungs and hypersensitivity.

This medication is a poppyseed oil used by injection as a radio-opaque contrast agent for hysterosalpingography and lymphography.
