How to Take Bivalirudin and it's Dose


It comes as a solution to be administered by a healthcare provider into the vein. After 5 minutes of administration, activated clotting time (ACT) test should be performed.

Dosage & When it is to be taken

IV- The recommended bolus dose is 0.75 mg/kg, followed by an infusion of 1.75 mg/kg/h for the duration of the PCI/PTCA procedure.

When it is not to be taken (Contraindications)

Contraindicated in patients with major bleeding and hypersensitivity.

This medication is an anticoagulant (thrombin inhibitor), prescribed for preventing blood clots in patients with unstable angina undergoing percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty ((PTCA) procedure to open blocked arteries).
