Zidovudine

Drug Name :  Zidovudine


Indication :Zidovudine is the first approved drug for the treatment of HIV infection. The drug is a competitive inhibitor of HIV reverse transcriptase, which disrupts viral replication because the DNA can no longer elongate.

Critical Values :Not established


Test Method :High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), Radio Immunoassay (RIA)


Side effects :hematologic suppression - anemia, leukopenia, granulocytopenia. Hepatic and renal failure.
