Indication :


Salicylate is an active product released from Asprin (acetylsalicylic acid) in the body. It is an analgesic, antipyretic, and antiinflammatory drug.

<10 mg/dL (<0.72 mmol/L)

Critical Values :


>80 mg/dL (>3.62 mmol/L)

Side effects :


Side effects of aspirin include mild nausea and vomiting, abdominal pain, stomach ulcers with bleeding, lethargy, tinnitus (abnormal sounds in the ears), dizziness, allergic reactions including breathing difficulties and electrolyte imbalance. Seizures and cerebral edema (swelling of the brain) may occur in serious cases. When given to children with viral fever, it could cause Reye’s syndrome characterized by liver damage causing neurological symptoms.
