Maprotiline

Drug Name :  Maprotiline


Indication :Maprotiline is an antidepressant. This test is done to ealuate toxicity and drug level monitoring of Maprotiline


Physiology :Maprotiline is a tetracyclic antidepressant prescribed for depression, schizophrenia, idiopathic pain. Maprotiline is a potent inhibitor of of norepinephrine to presynatptic nerve terminal.


Normal Values :200-600 ng/mL (721-2163 nmol/L)


Critical Values :>1000 ng/mL (> 3605 nmol/L)


Test Method :High performance liquid chromatography, Gas chromatography.


Side effects :Anticholinergic activity, Cardiovascular toxicity. At overdoses may cause coma, convulsions, dysrhythmias, hypotension.
