Caffeine is present in coffee and tea. It is a metabolite of theophylline in infants.

Caffeine is one of the most widely used mind altering substances and is found in numerous beverages (Cocoa, coffee, cola, tea) and prescription and nonprescription medications.

Side effects :


Caffeine raises the blood pressure, disrupts sleep patterns, increases the severity of psychiatric disease and causes physiological dependence and increased risk of addiction. Excessive consumption leads to caffeine intoxication which may result in tachycardia (increase in the heart rate), vomiting, cardiac arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms), seizures and death.
