Drug Name :  Amitriptyline/ Etrafon, Triavil


Indication :Amitriptyline is a tricyclic anti-depressant. Therapeutic monitoring and toxicity assessment.


Physiology :Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that blocks the reuptake of serotonin at nerve endings and possesses high anticholinergic activity and cardiovascular toxicity.


Normal Values :100-250 ng/mL (360-900 nmol/L)


Critical Values : > 300 g/mL (> 1080 nmol/L)


Test Method :Immunoassay, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC).


Side effects :Amitriptyline should be avoided in pregnant and lactating women because these drugs have not been established as safe.
