Acetaminophen/ Paracetamol/ Liquiprin

Drug Name :  Acetaminophen/ Paracetamol/ Liquiprin


Indication :Acetaminophen is an analgesic antipyretic widely used as a replacement of aspirin.


Physiology : Acetaminophen is an analgesic and an antipyretic with anti-inflammatory properties. It is used for the treatment of headache, fever, pain relief or inflammation. Acetaminophen is given, in place of aspirin, for the treatment of fever in children below the age of 14. This is due to the association of aspirin with the development of Reye’s syndrome.


Test Method :UV Spectrometry, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Immunoassay.


Interpretation :Hepatic toxicity may appear 3-5 days after ingestion of a toxic dose. Toxic levels require monitoring through liver function tests(AST, ALT, Bilirubin, Glucose, creatinine, prothrombin time and electrolytes).


Side effects :Although side effects from acetaminophen with hydrocodone bitartrate are not common, they can occur.The common side effects are lightheadedness, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, impaired mental and physical performance, mood changes, constipation.

I am not sure but I would as well suggest that the dissolution of the drug (duration in particular) may as well contribute to the toxicity. What rate of dissolution can work b best for this drug?
