Chlordiazepoxide

Drug Name 

Chlordiazepoxide

Indication Chloradiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine drug used as a sedative. The test monitor's the level of chlordiazepoxide in blood and to determine its toxic level.
Physiology Chlordiazepoxide is an antianxiety agent commonly used in suicide attempts. It is slowly absorbed an may take several hours to reach a peak plasma level.
Normal Values 0.1-3.0 µg/ml (0-10 µmol/L
Critical Values >20 µg/ml (>77 µgmol/L)
Test Method High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC).
Interpretation Overdosage with the benzoiazepines is common but does not cause serious conditions.
