Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This medication is a macrolide antibiotic, prescribed for different types of bacterial infections, such as tonsillitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, and pneumonia. It fights bacteria in the body.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): Hypersensitivity.

Category C : Animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

Dosage & When it is to be taken : 
Adults: PO- The recommended dose is 250 to 500 mg 4 times a day.
Children: 125 to 250 mg (3-5 mg/lb or 6.6 to 11 mg/kg) every 6 hours.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a capsule to take by mouth, as directed by your physician.
Warnings and Precautions : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with liver impairment, any allergy, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight; otherwise it may cause photosensitivity.
Side Effects : 
Gastrointestinal - Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping and diarrhea.
Skin - Hives and rash.
Central Nervous System - Dizziness, fatigue, or headache.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
