International- Depo- Testosterone. This medication is a male sex hormone, prescribed for primary hypogonadism and hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. When it is not to be taken (Contraindications):
When it is to be taken : Adult- IM- The recommended dose is 200 mg every two weeks, to a maximum of 400 mg per month. How it should be taken : It comes as a solution for injection, to be administered by a healthcare provider into the large muscle. Special Instruction : * Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart disease, heart failure, chest pain, high cholesterol levels, swelling, lung disease, sleep apnea, diabetes, enlarged prostate, kidney or liver disease, high blood calcium levels, obesity, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding. * Monitor liver function, blood cell counts, blood cholesterol, blood sugar, prostatic specific antigen, bone growth, and blood testosterone regularly while taking this medication. Side Effects : Genitourinary - Breast enlargement in male, excessive duration of penile erections. Decrease in sperm count may occur at high dosages. Skin - Abnormal hair growth over all body, male pattern of baldness, increased sweating, and pimples. Fluid and electrolyte disturbances - Retention of sodium, chloride, water, potassium, calcium, and inorganic phosphates. Gastrointestinal - Nausea, jaundice, alterations in liver function tests. Blood - Suppression of clotting factors, and polycythemia. Central Nervous System - Increased or decreased libido, headache, anxiety, depression, and generalized tingling. Miscellaneous - Inflammation and pain at the site of injection. * Avoid excess dosage. Storage Conditions : Store it at controlled room temperature (20° to 25°C). |
