Generic Name : Telmisartan and Amlodipine
Pronunciation : tel-mi-SAR-tan, am-LOE-di-peen BES-i-late
Trade Name(s): 
International- Twynsta.
Why it is prescribed (Indications) : 
This combination medication contains calcium channel blocker and angiotensin II receptor blocker, prescribed for high blood pressure. It relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
When it is not to be taken (Contraindications): Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity. It should not be co-administered with aliskiren.

Category D : There is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience or studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.

Dosage & When it is to be taken : 
PO- The maximum recommended dose is 80/10 mg once daily.
How it should be taken : 
It comes as a tablet to take by mouth, with or without food.
Warnings and Precautions : 
* Caution should be exercised in patients with history of heart, gallbladder, liver, or kidney problems; high blood potassium levels, low blood pressure, blood vessel problems, stroke or heart attack, diabetes, low blood volume, any allergy, who are taking other medications, elderly, children, during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
* It may cause dizziness or drowsiness, do not drive a car or operate machinery and getup slowly from bed while taking this medication.
* Monitor blood pressure, liver and kidney function, and blood electrolyte levels regularly while taking this medication.
*Patient may develop with heart attack, chest pain and low blood pressure.
Side Effects : 
Swelling in the extremities, dizziness, edema (other than peripheral edema), low blood pressure and syncope.
Other Precautions : 
* Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions : 
Store at 25°C.
