Why it is prescribed :
This medication is a radioactive diagnostic agent, used to detect tumor site in patients with breast cancer or melanoma.
Category C :
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus and there are no appropriate studies in pregnant women, but potential benefits may allow the use of the drug in pregnant women despite the potential for risks.
Dosage & When it is to be taken (Indications):
SC- The recommended dose is 18.5 MBq (0.5 mCi), at least 15 minutes before initiating intraoperative lymphatic mapping.
How it should be taken :
It comes as a powder for injection to be administered by a healthcare provider either under the skin or peritumoral administration.
Warnings and Precautions :
• Patient may develop with increased of hypersensitivity reactions; if it is so consult with your doctor.
Caution needed for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
Side Effects :
Injection site irritation and pain.
Other Precautions :
Avoid excess dosage.
Storage Conditions :
Store it in controlled room temperature 20° to25°C.
